It’s almost summer. Go do something.

It’s almost summer! The temps are warming up, the days are getting longer, and everything is green. If you’re like us, this can only mean one thing… looking forward to summer vacation!

While we hope you have a big trip planned, there’s a lot of great local spots that make excellent day or weekend trips. Plus, you can pack lighter, avoid taking time off, and still make great memories with your fam.

Here are our top three recommendations for enjoying the beauty and fun Nebraska has to offer.

Indian Cave

Located in Indian Cave State Park, this hidden gem is just an hour and a half drive from Omaha. Along with the breathtaking sandstone cave the park is named after, it also boasts great outdoor camping, 22 miles of scenic hiking and biking trails, and sweeping views of the majestic Missouri River. This is a great option to get outdoors, enjoy nature and unplug from tech.

The Niobrara River

A little farther from Omaha, the Niobrara River offers lots of camping, cabin, and RV options. And once you’re settled in a place to stay, there’s so much fun to be had. From floating the river to kayaking or canoeing in groups. You can hike or bike the scenic and historic Cowboy Trail. Or enjoy the stunning sights at Fort Falls. Only 3.5 hours away, this is a prime close-to-home vacation spot.

Brewery Tour

Don’t have a weekend and just looking to make the most of your Saturday? Check out Brewery Row in Papillion. This suburb of Omaha is booming with breweries. Pint Nine Brewing, Kros Strain Brewing, Nebraska Brewing, and Lucky Bucket are all withing a few minutes of each other.
